S3E11: Sustainability in the Built Environment with Sarah Slaughter

Sarah Slaughter, founder and president of the Built Environment Coalition, joins our host Jerry Eyink to discuss the growing emphasis on sustainability in the built environment. Sarah discusses the value & importance of incorporating sustainability and resilience from an early phase in projects to tackle natural and unexpected changes. Sarah also details some of the advancements made in construction practice, equipment, and engineering systems and outlines how collaboration between owners and industry experts is crucial to setting and achieving lofty sustainability goals. Sarah started the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative and led the MIT Energy Initiative as an associate director for building and infrastructure.
