Brian M. Kleiner
Brian M. Kleiner is the Vorster-Kleiner Director of the Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech and a national leader in construction safety, health, well-being, and human systems integration. With over 30 years of research, consulting, and teaching, he has advanced the understanding of safety culture and operations, ergonomics, and workforce well-being in an increasingly automated industry. A Fellow of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, Brian’s interdisciplinary work has shaped both academic programs and real-world safety practices across the built environment. Brian holds a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering from the State University of New York and a Masters of Science in industrial and systems engineering from the State University of New York. He is a board member of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) and an active voice in global efforts to enhance construction safety. Respected for his vision, innovation, scholarship, and service, Brian continues to influence the industry’s evolution toward safer and more resilient practices, especially within a more automated environment.
