Clayton O. Mitchell, Jr. is Senior Vice President of Corporate Facilities and Real Estate and Chief Systems Design Officer at Yale New Haven Health, where he oversees capital programs, facilities operations, and real estate strategy across the health system. A U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps veteran and licensed civil engineer, Mitch brings over 30 years of public and private sector leadership in real estate, infrastructure, and facilities management. He has held executive roles at Kaiser Permanente, Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health, where he delivered more than $250 million in value through enterprise-wide transformation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from California Polytechnic (Cal Poly) State University and a master’s degree in civil engineering from University of California, Berkley. A national voice in sustainable healthcare infrastructure, Mitch contributes to the Urban Land Institute’s Healthcare and Life Sciences Council and the Center for Health Design. He is widely recognized for his leadership, strategic vision, and commitment to mentoring the next generation of facilities professionals.
