Stuart D. Anderson
Stuart D. (Stu) Anderson retired as Professor and Holder of the Zachry Chair in Construction Integration from Texas A&M University in January 2019. He holds a bachelor’s degree in building construction from the University of Washington, a master’s of civil engineering from the University of Illinois, and a PhD from The University of Texas at Austin. He was previously with the Fluor Corporation for just under 12 years and with Stone & Webster for two years.
He was an active teacher and researcher with applications to industrial and heavy civil projects, and has published over 150 papers and technical reports. He remains active in the Transportation Research Board and the National Academy of Construction. His NAC involvement includes membership on the Communications Committee and working on Executive Insights. Among his awards are two from ASCE as well as the Zachry Teaching Excellence Award from Texas A&M University and the Outstanding Researcher Award from CII.
Stu and Debbie, married in 1975, have two daughters. Brittany lives in near Atlanta and has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Erica started her career in interior design in NYC. Stu and Debbie are active in church and volunteer work, enjoy travelling, and attend Texas A&M sporting events. After retiring Stu and Debbie are spending more time with their eight year old grandson and six year old granddaughter in the Atlanta area. They also enjoy visiting their four year old grandson and two year old granddaughter previously in NYC but now living in Sydney Australia.
