Lawson II

John Lawson is executive chairman of the W.M. Jordan Company. He earned a bachelor’s degree in geophysics from Virginia Tech.

John and fellow NAC member Ross Myers founded the Myers Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech. His company, one of the largest construction manager firms in Virginia, has earned recognition as an ENR Top 400 Contractor in the U.S. for the past 35 years. In 2018, the W.M. Jordan Company was named Contractor of the Year by ENR Mid-Atlantic, reflecting the firm’s culture of excellence, employee wellness and development, and giving back to the community. Formerly the president and CEO at the company, John announced his move to executive chair in 2018 to pave the way for the next generation of growth and operational excellence at the firm. His focus now is on advancing innovation and development opportunities throughout the region.

He has been honored many times. He is a distinguished alumnus of Virginia Tech and led a fund-raising campaign there that exceeded $1 billion. He has served as a board member of the World President’s Organization and as president of the Associated General Contractors of Virginia.
